Ok please take a look at my latest questions and see who is the education freak. I'm only 14 years old and I've already planned my career out! 5 month ago I was like you, not understanding a thing from the Ivy league colleges' site, but I searched the net and asked questions on Yahoo!Answers and now I know almost everything! First I was interested in general college stuff but then I dug deeper and started to know more about what interests me!

well first off, i brush my teeth with a sonicare toothbrush 3-4 times a day, floss once a day, use Act restorative mouthwash everyday, and try to stay away from sweets, but i still have shitty teeth. add on top of that that my parents never took me to the dentist once in my life (not even joking). i'm a broke married grad student with a 3 yr old and my husband's job has no dental plan. my mouth is filled with cavities, and i probably need some root canals and crowns. i live in eastern pennsylvania. does anyone know of any dental schools in eastern or central PA or even in New Jersey, or any type of cheaper program in the area? If not, what are some good, affordable dental plans i could sign up for? i'm going to need a lot of work that is going to cost at the very least the cost of a new car. sorry this is so long. i'm just so embarrassed and depressed about my teeth and that i don't have the money for it; i just really need some help finding a place that i can afford.
You might look for a local dental school as they charge considerably less for treatment and the students are well trained and supervised. Or, ask someone you know for a recommendation or call offices and inquire if they will work with a payment plan. Perhaps a local clinic with sliding fee scale based on your income could be of help!
Also, look at this link to the American Dental Association website that discusses finances and "Care Credit" which they endorse.

Hope that helps and good luck!

i'm attending a community college right now. i have goals to complete my general education and major requirements and then transfer to UCLA and finish my requirements for a degree in biochemistry. i want to be a dentist.
i have been contemplating about also going to a vocational school at night to become a dental assistant by the time i transfer to a university.
is it possible to attend both a community college AND a vocational school at the same time?
my community college has degree programs in dental assisting, but i don't think they'd let me do both
There is no restriction on going to two schools at the same time. Actually if you look in UCLA's catalog, they should have a policy on concurrent enrollment. Normally you are supposed to get permission from the registrar's office so that you don't go over the unit restriction. Some people try to overload their classes by attending two schools at the same time. However, if you are not planning to transfer any of the credit from your vocational school, which I do not even think they transfer, you are free to do whatever you want in your own time.
I am pretty sure that you can also get a degree in dental assistance at your CC at the same time. However, if you are on financial aid at UCLA, you will have to keep up with the satisfactory progress requirement by taking enough classes there. Also you will have to pay for CC classes yourself since receiving financial aid at two schools simultaneously is not allowed. One drawback is that you will have to live a "double life", commuting twice to school, paying tuition twice, you get the point.
Why do you want a vocational degree? I don't think it will help you get into a dental school.

now, this might come off as a naive question, but it makes me wonder…would going to ucla for a bachelor's degree and then going to usc for post-grad/dental schooling seem…odd? usc would still give me the same look over as they do to applicants of other schools, right?
idk..i just think about this quite a bit
School rivalries are primarily about athletics.
No one cares about any of this in terms of admissions, particularly at the graduate level.

Hey I live in NYC manhattan, I was just wondering if anyone has recieved orthodontic treatment from this school. and if so how much did it cost?
i know it varies for each "case" and not every one is the same, i was just looking to see how much anyone has paid in general.
I'm planning on going there.
i live in the "A"!!! EY!

I would really like to hear for some dental hygienist if possible, I also would like to know how you choose this career. I have been thinking about this for about 3 yrs and i dont think that my mind will change. At first I wanted to become a dental assistant but I thought that I should do something that i really want.
Tiffany,
You can find a list of accredited schools in Missouri at the ADHA (American Dental Hygienists Association) website here:

It looks like there is an Associates program at St. Louis Community College in Forest Park. Good luck!
