I graduated from high school in Nicaragua (2004) and now I'm taking a Dental Assistant course in Houston in a regular college, but I really want to be a dentist. In this college I just translated my diploma to English, but I don't know if I can do that in a Dental school or University.
What can I do???
You need to make sure that you have fulfilled all your requirements to enter the dental school of your choice. It doesn't matter if you graduated from Nicaragua, you need to have all your requirements ready along with your DAT exam and any recommendation letters that they need. Go visit the school and they would give you all the info you need. Good Luck

I went to school to become a Dental Assistant, which now I don't think its for me and I had a real bad experience. I really want to work in the front office, but everywhere wants you to have the Dental software experience. Anyways how can I get that if no one whats to hiring me and train me? Is there anywhere I can get experience on the software? Any advice???
Thanks
Try finding a class at an area college. They can teach u how to use the software. Good luck!!!

Was interested in this career and some details about it… let me know whatever you feel willing to… maybe even an email so we could chat… thx
IM in college right now and I know quite a few people who are about to graduate in this field. They say they really like it and are looking forward to starting off making $55K a year, HOWEVER, this jobis not in HIGH demand and when youre in the middle of a rescesion, its a job that may fall off. I know baout six people who are graduating and none of them have jobs waiting and they have applied to a lot of places.

I am a sophomore at Saint Louis University w/a 3.57 GPA. what are some dental schools that I would have a good chance of getting into. My advisor is telling me not to be worried w/my current GPA, but I have seen statistics at some schools w/1500 applicants and only 100 admitted.
Missouri School of Dentistry. Columbia, Missouri
An extension of the University of Missouri. Good luck. Maybe on this side at SIUE

I have decided I would like to try to get into dental school. I am currently a junior in college, and I intend to complete my currect course of study in information systems as a backup plan just in case I do not get accepted anywhere. However, I have completed one biology and one chemistry course in my freshman year for which I recieved poor grades. I have also have had a large number of W's. I will probably graduate with an GPA around 3.3 overall.
I am conisdering working in something related to my degree after I graduate and then returning to school in a couple of years. Would having a period of time distancing my first academic degree from the dental prerequisites have any influence at all on admission?
Taking time off in itself will not hurt you. Though there are many dental students that enter right out of college, a huge percentage are in their late 20s and took time off before starting d-school. However, the low grades in science prerequisites may harm your application unless you're willing to re-take them. If you have AMAZING grades on all your upper-level sciences it should be fine, but know that it is your application and not the time off that makes the difference with admissions committees.
This question and others have been asked hundreds of times over many years in the two good web sites for predents, so search there and you'll get lots of great advice!
