attending rival schools?

November 29th, 2008 by admin

now, this might come off as a naive question, but it makes me wonder…would going to ucla for a bachelor's degree and then going to usc for post-grad/dental schooling seem…odd? usc would still give me the same look over as they do to applicants of other schools, right?

idk..i just think about this quite a bit

School rivalries are primarily about athletics.

No one cares about any of this in terms of admissions, particularly at the graduate level.

It doesn't matter if they came from a rival institution. One of the other students in my lab went to our school's rival for her undergrad education. The rivalry often goes beyond just athletics. However, the admissions committees for grad programs don't care about any of that; they want the most qualified students regardless of where they came from.

At worst, you might be the target of some gentle ribbing by your fellow students when football season comes around, but that's about it.
